This is the first song written by the trio. It is also the first song recorded in the studio. The bass and drum tracks were laid with a scratch guitar track. The scratch track was replaced with four guitar tracks: two clean and two rhythms. The vocal tracks were laid last. Kevin and Jared, each, laid two vocals tracks. Kevin sings the verses, and then alternates the choruses with Jared.

The song is high-speed, hard-driven rock sound. During their live performances, they will often use this song to introduce the band or to get the audience jumping and dancing.

This is one of the more popular songs performed by MLR. The drum track was laid with a scratch bass and guitar. The bass was laid down next, followed by three guitar tracks. Jared laid two rhythm tracks and one solo track. Although the picking and the rhythm parts could have been separated, Jared was more comfortable doing it all in one run. Kevin sings the verses and Jared sings the choruses. Both laid down two vocal tracks each.

During their live performances, MLR immediately begins Stay With Me while the guitar and bass are still ringing the last note of Look To The West; there is no break. Also, on the CD, there is no pause because two tracks.

Stay With Me is a dark song about the bitter feelings a man feels about his girlfriend leaving him. He's begging her to stay; and even believes that God put them together. The song begins with very strong feelings. He is so upset with her that he has thoughts of murder. However, reason keeps him from stepping over that edge.

This song is fast paced and rocks. It's brighter, happier sound is a great contrast to the previous song, Stay With Me. The drums and bass were laid a the same time. Three guitar tracks were laid next. However, during a performance at the San Diego (Del Mar) fair, Jared's guitar fell over and broke one of the tuning keys. Although it was repaired before the recording session, it would not stay in tune. The tracks had to be re-recorded on another day.

The unique harmonization between Kevin and Jared could make this song a classic. In addition, the bridge breaks it up with Kevin singing up close and personal.

This song is hard-hitting, and far from feeling blissful. As with the other songs, the drums and bass were laid first, followed by three guitar tracks: clean rhythm, distorted rhythm, and solo.

The trio often start off their performances with this song with Kevin and Jared yelling out to the crowd and welcoming them to the show. Kevin will encourage the audience to stand up and be ready to jump and shout. MLR's performances are "no sitting" zone. When you attend, tou are expected to be involved.

This song is the newest of all the songs on the CD and reflects the growth and depth of My Revelation over the last two years. It is also the most complicated. Along with the usual drums, bass, and guitar tracks, there are two piano tracks and four orchestra tracks. There are four guitar tracks using three different guitars: a Les Paul for the guitar solo and clean rhythm, a Ovation Legend for the acoustic rhythm, and a vintage '67 Gibson SG for the distortion.

The attempt was to create a lonely, lost feeling. The is about a man falling in love for the first time; but, with a woman who was not right for him. The sound effects were added to give this feeling of standing alone; the rain of sorrow pouring down upon his shoulders. It is, by far, the deepest and most emotional track on the CD. Also of interest is that the outro lyrics are the first four lines of Amends.

"Haze" is a funky song with a strong "slap-bass" sound. The bass tracks were laid at the end of a session, which was not a good idea. Kevin had to redo the bass tracks a few times. By the time he got it right, his thumb was sore from slapping the strings. He recorded the "final" track with duct tape around his thumb because it was all we had.

While listening to the "raw" studio recordings, we could hear people talking in the background on one of the tracks just before the music began. This gave Derrick the idea of added the voices at the beginning. Thus, during the mixing stage, a party sound track was added, which rounded out the craziness of the song.

Seek The Truth is a very melodic and powerful song with complex harmonies and sounds. The guitar effects were added during the mixing stage. Kevin and Jared recorded each vocal track twice. Kevin sings the lead with Jared providing the harmony. Together, they created this unique blend of sounds that sets this song apart from any other.

The song has a nice driving sound, and the guitar melodies will catch your attention. When the vocals start, you will find yourself saying: "wow."

Indemnity and Amends are really, two separate songs. Indemnity is the guitar and bass intro. In the live performance, Jared and Kevin begin Indemnity by singing acapello the lyrics to Amends and The Voice That Can't Be Heard. For the CD, they decided to begin Indemnity as an instrumental. While recording the vocals, Robert Trujillo (sound engineer) recommended recording a track with Kevin simply speaking the lyrics. We accidentally picked up Kevin asking if he should "whisper or talk normally." All we could hear was "whisper"; and Kevin liked it so much that we added a track with him saying "whisper." This song is also the only song with a female vocalist. Katie Kraft joined us on one session to sing the background vocals with Jared during the chorus.

An interesting piece of trivia about the lyrics is that the outro in Fallen is also the first four lines from Amends. Amends can be interpreted in many ways. It is mysterious and dark. It is a description of how we feel when things around us begin to fall apart, and when we feel the most vulnerable. It is during these times we look for divine intervention.

Jared insisted this song be named "untitled." He also wrote and sings the verses, while Kevin wrote and sings the choruses. The chorus begins with the challenge: "Is this how you want to live?" In the studio, we pulled everyone around the microphone to yell the words.

Although the words have this "tongue-in-cheek" feel to it, do not mistake it as a comedy. The words are funny, but the meaning is serious. It's meant to be confusing and crazy sounding. It represents someone whose life is going in circles, getting nowhere. In the live performance, Kevin will often replace the words "Drinking and cussing, living untrusted" with "Drinking and cussing, just like McMuffin"; just to make it even more non-sensical.

This is the most complicated song on the CD. It took four hours and 32 tracks to create. The drums and bass tracks were laid in a single take. Then, the guitar tracks were added. Jared recorded seven tracks using three different guitars. On two tracks, he played an Ovation Custom Legend acoustic to get a full picking sound. On another two tracks, he used a Les Paul on top of the Ovation to give it an almost 12-string effect. Another track, he played a vintage '67 SG for the solo. Then, the last two tracks were used for the distortion guitar, using the Les Paul, again.

When all of the tracks were laid, a sample mixed version was sent to Richard Frey, who arranged the background strings. All 32 tracks were shipped to Nashvilled for the final mix. The end result is what you hear now.

Voice was written as a tribute to all of the men and women in the armed forces fighting for freedom. However, it is also about the struggles we all go through in an effort to find ourselves. The descriptions of war is an allegory depicting what we all go through. In the end, it is love that gets home. But, maybe not as fast as we want. We cannot leave until we understand who we are. That is, we can't run away from our problems. But, it is love that allows us to see the world as a beautiful place.
